2019-2020 School year with Mrs. Schiebe!
Welcome back to school, everyone! I am looking forward to another exciting year at MBS! We have many exciting new opportunities coming up for the music program such as the honor choirs, band during the school day, and even the reinstatement of the MBS Parish Fair! Students K-5th, band, and choir have been asked to perform again after a three year break! I am anticipating a fun yet vigorous year in the music department and I am ready for the challenge! The support from the MBS family will be vital to really knocking these performances out of the park. There may be opportunities for volunteers to make props and such for our performances. I will keep my website update ( better than I have in the past! I admit I was terrible) on any and all opportunities to help make the Fair a fabulous event for everyone! I will be posting helpful videos for the students to use for learning purposes under the MBS Parish Fair tab. Please utilize these links and videos whenever your child has time in their schedule. ( I know, I know... so much going on!!)
As far as the choir opportunities are concerned, you may find the links to the rehearsal tracks under the MBS choir tab. Go to Honor Choir and download the page. All the rehearsal tracks will be available up to the date of the auditions. Please read the page carefully so your child knows dates and times for each of these. I will be holding a few extra rehearsals outside of choir time in order to work with the students interested in these opportunities. I may ask ahead of time who is interested in attending. As this will be extra time on my part dedicated to teaching these songs, if your child is planning on attending, please stick to that commitment. I am extremely excited about getting the MBS name out in the community and for seeking new opportunities for our talented students!
I am excited to announce that the advanced band will be taking place DURING the school day on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays this school year! We are so thankful to the administration for allowing the music department to participate as an exploratory this year! We won't let y'all down! With the extra time to work with the advanced band students, we will be working on many more pieces of music. Students will not be required to take their instruments home every night as that would cause much more work and stress on the students. However,, students may take their instruments home if these choose. Since there is no band rehearsal on Thursdays, students may take their instruments home on Wednesdays to practice and bring them back on Friday morning. Students are REQUIRED to take their instruments home on Friday afternoon. If instruments are left in the music room, MBS is not responsible for anything that may occur. Many people are in and out of the school from the parish at all times. Please be aware of your personal belongings as you would any other items you bring to school!
If you have any questions regarding the Fair, honor choirs, or band or would like to help out at any time, please feel free to e-mail me at [email protected] or drop by and say hi! Thank you to all the awesome families at MBS for making my first four years a blast! Here's to year number 6!! Let's show Baton Rouge who MBS is! GEAUX PELICANS!
