Welcome to the K-5 General Music Education page! I will keep parents and students updated on what we will be learning in class in the coming weeks, concert/ event dates/ and exciting things to look forward to! This year we will be focusing on incorporating the 10 National Music Standards and the Basic Elements of music into our learning experience. Our goal for this school year is to successfully integrate these fundamentals into activities and daily exercises. Each student should be able to demonstrate the basic standards and elements by the end of the year. Attached you will find the 10 National Standards and the Basic Elements to read at your leisure.
4th and 5th grade may be assessed using quizzes, tests, or projects throughout the year. The terminology and musical symbols have been discussed in class and the students are expected to recall the appropriate information. If the students need extra time or need further guidance, I would be happy to meet with them at their convenience. Particular information will be shared online regarding any assignments. However, the answers are the responsibility of the students to discover and learn inside and outside of class.
Students may have points deducted off their participation grade if I determine that they are not properly following classroom protocol. If the student's behavior affects classroom time, the student will be sent home with a conduct form. The students are expected to follow all rules established in the school handbook.
If students are unprepared for class (i.e. no assignment notebook, music folder if needed, or no pencil), class points may be deducted. If a student misses a quiz, test, or project they will be expected to make it up in a timely manner.
Students are expected to bring a pencil, paper, assignment notebook, and folder to class weekly.

The 3rd grade students are to be working on the Taste Fair music at home. Please help them do so and also have them memorize all the music! Thank you for your support
These are the standards with which I will be basing my lesson each week off of.
I will be corporating each element into daily practice with K-5.
This is a wonderful website to keep informed about news in the music classroom throughout America.
This is a great website that students can use to practice music skills! You may need to make sure the website is in English at the top right corner.
